This project involved the delicate heritage restoration of Portfield Cemetery’s heritage elements in Chichester. Key requirements included the use of specialist lime plaster and breather lime render paints to maintain the buildings breathability. We also required powered access via a scissor lift, operated under full qualification and health and safety measures in place.
The Solution
We began by securing all heritage flooring with protective coverings, then we addressed compromised plaster areads by carefully scraping back to sound surfaces, Once stable we applied a specialist lime render system and breathable fillers to ensure longevity. For the doors we highlighted each fine detail , from varnish to picking out the black metal details, ensuring an authentic restoration. Powered by a scissor lift we delivered a high detail finish.
The Result
The cemetery was restored to its former glory, preserving its historical integrity. The client praised the craftsmanship and the breathable finishes ensured long term durability and protection of heritage fabric.
